Bank manager makes final withdrawal

IT'S the last day Des Plunkett will spend in the best job he's ever had.

Today, the South Grafton Bendigo Community Bank branch manager will close the door on an illustrious career in banking to spend more time with family and pursue new hobbies.

Mr Plunkett has been with the South Grafton branch since 2002 and leaves with plenty of good memories.

"I started working with the business when it was 18 months old and struggling to break even. With a lot of hard teamwork we bridged the gap and the rest is history," he said.

"One of our best achievements was when we made our first profit and we could pay customers their first dividends. I've had a lot of fun along the way and I will miss a lot of people."

Customer relationship manager Mark Hunting will assume Mr Plunkett's role on Monday.

"He (Mr Plunkett) is full of information and he has endeavoured to teach me everything he knows. He has been a great asset to the bank," Mr Hunting said.
