Ballina swim team is gold

FOR the second year running Ballina Indoor Swim Team has reached the high standard of winning the prestigious GO Club Gold Award.

Nationwide, only 33 swimming clubs have achieved this high standard.

The Australian Unity GO Club PB is the national swimming club standard that recognises and rewards swimming clubs by measuring their performance across five key areas:

Memberships

Administration

Activities

Coaching and officiating

Marketing and promotion.

The Australian Unity GO Club PB is a key component to measuring and rewarding clubs on their abilities.

Clubs which achieve Gold gain access to an appearance from a member of the Telstra Dolphins Australian Swim team and a mentor coach.

Ballina Indoor Swim Team holds weekly fun race nights all year round, and they also support and develop members to compete at area, country, State and national championships.

In the 2009 season the team had 20 swimmers selected in Far North Coast representative squads.

They also have a strong social side to the club with regular outings for the kids as well as the parents.

• For anyone interested in coming along and racing, Ballina Indoor Swim Team holds weekly club nights at 5.30pm Wednesdays for all ages and abilities.
