Ballina put Rams to sword

BALLINA has broken into the top five in Football FNC premier division soccer, producing its best game of the season in thrashing Byron Bay 4-0 at Saunders Park, Ballina, on Saturday.

Two goals from Adam Izzard and another from James Tomlinson gave them a comfortable 3-0 lead at half-time, then the Rams conceded an own goal after the break.

The combination of Tomlinson and Dylan Monnox worked well in central midfield, while Matt Jones did a good job containing the Rams’ new signing Kazuhiro Tsukamoto.

“We knew we had to maintain our concentration and the boys did it for almost the entire game, we’ve just got to keep doing it,” Ballina coach Rod Troughton said.

Ballina are now equal fifth with Thistles, two points behind the fourth-placed Rams.
