Ballina Jockey Club on for Sunday

BALLINA Jockey Club officials are confident their latest meeting will beat the weather blues and be a success.

With the recent improving conditions, hopes are high that this Sunday's race day at the Racecourse Road track will be a success.

The region's trainers have endured a frustrating time in recent weeks, with the late summer heavy rain forcing the cancellation of important meetings.

With an improved forecast predicted over the coming days, organisers are hopeful that Sunday's meeting will proceed as planned.

Acceptances for the TAB meeting were due to be finalised on Thursday, with 150 nominations received for the meeting.

Various St Patrick's Day-themed entertainment will be held on the day.

A lucky prize will be given for people wearing green, while under-18s will be admitted free.

Gates open at noon and racing starts at 1.20pm.
