Ballina gran wins $1 million
A BALLINA grandmother might be having the best day of her life after learning this morning she won $1 million in last night's Lotto draw.
"I saw the sign saying they'd sold division one last night and I asked, 'Is that mine? They haven't told me yet,' but I was only joking!" the pensioner said.
"Then they checked my ticket and said to me, 'It probably is you,' and I replied, 'Don't joke about that'.
"Oh I can't believe it. Thank you, this is more than I can take," she told NSW Lotteries when they confirmed she had won.
"You know I'm not a drinker but I think I'm going to have to have some bubbles to celebrate!"
The woman was now swinging decades of "what-if" planning into action.
"I've had plans for a long, long time," she said. "Firstly though, I'm going to help out my family,"
The winning set of numbers sold through the Ballina Fair Newsagency in a $6.55 12-game-quickpick - the smallest quickpick game available.
Ballina Fair owners said this was the third time a ticket they had sold had won division one.
"I was only jokingly saying the other day that we were about due for another first division win," Mrs Davey said.
