Ballina Council to discuss CSG exclusion zones

BALLINA Shire councillors will today discuss writing to the State Government to ask that Tintenbar and Newrybar be included in the coal seam gas exclusion zones.

The report from staff does not "seek to provide analysis of the merits of CSG activities or policy", but instead aims to "achieve consistency in the application of CSG exclusion areas in the region".

Also at today's council meeting, councillors will look at next year's Ballina Cup, and whether it should continue to be a half-day public holiday.

The recommendation is to support a part half-day public holiday between 12pm and 6pm.

Other items on the council's agenda include:

A raised pathway on North Wall;

The review of the off-leash dog area at The Spit;

An update on the lease for Club Lennox;

Information about the playground upgrade and renewal program.

The Northern Star will be tweeting from the council meeting from 9am today. Follow our tweets here on the website or follow @northern_star_ on Twitter.
