Ballina besieged with street assaults

IT WAS a violent 24 hours in Ballina following three assaults in nearly as many hours.

A 42-year-old Ballina man was attacked in River Street about 11.55pm on Monday while riding his pushbike.

Police have since spoken to a 17-year-old who is assisting them with their inquiries.

Then about 3am yesterday, a 15-year-old youth was found unconscious after being assaulted near the intersection of Brampton Avenue and Apsley Street.

Finally, a 27-year-old man from Narara, NSW, was head-butted in the face in Kalinga Street at a business premises about 3.15am.

Police are seeking assistance from a man reported to have been travelling in a white Holden Commodore, who was described as 177cm tall with a muscular build, shaved head and aged in his late 20s.
