LOCAL fans of the film franchise Back to the Future have successfully campaigned to have the films screened in Lismore in honour of "Back to the Future Day".

Back to the Future Day was Wednesday October 21, celebrated because that was the day Emmett Lathrop "Doc" Brown, Ph.D. arrived in the present from his "own time" of 1985, in the now-classic 1980s film.

Some local fans put together a Change.org petition to get the Lismore Events Cinemas to screen the trilogy of films on Back to the Future Day.

While that wasn't achieved by Back to the Future Day, the fans have had some good news - due to the overwhelming support, Lismore Cinemas have agreed to screen the trilogy on November 1 at 4pm.

This update was posted on the Change.org petition page on Back to the Future Day:

We have good news! Thanks to everyone's support, Lismore Cinemas have gone out of their way to get the film screened for us on the 1st of November at 4pm! Everyone make sure you buy your tickets for this amazing event we have all been waiting for!
