Wildcard for Cleo Bachelor comp
JOEL Farrell got the shock of his life when he was nominated by a friend for the 2010 Cleo Bachelor of the Year Wildcard, and shortly into the competition found himself in the top-five-highest-rated nominees.
The Warwick Indoor Recreation and Aquatic Centre (WIRAC) personal trainer said he did it as a bit of a joke after being nominated by a friend.
“I did it all for a bit of a laugh and now it’s become a bit more serious. It’s good to see I’m doing well,” Mr Farrell said.
The top 50 Wildcards go into the Cleo Magazine in March, and the winner selected will go up against some of the hottest men in the country including Olympian Eamon Sullivan and musician Daniel Johns in the April issue.
“It will be pretty cool to meet celebrities like Eamon Sullivan if I am selected and pretty good to get in the Cleo magazine,” he said.
The 21-year-old Rose City resident is well-known as an elite hockey player in the region and currently plays with St Andrews in Brisbane and made the Queensland under-23 side last year.
When asked by the Daily News about considering a career in modelling he said it wasn’t something he ever considered and was happy helping Warwickites as a trainer at WIRAC.
He is not only one of the highest-rated nominees on the Cleo website leader board, he is also sitting in second place for the Most Viewed Wildcard as of yesterday.
To get his image out there he has created a Facebook page encouraging others to vote for him, and so far has 418 supporters and encouraged everyone to have a look and vote for him.
On his nomination he describes himself in five words as “energetic, sensitive, passionate, athletic and daring”, and his personality type as “charming”.
“Get behind me and help me get into the 2010 Cleo Bachelor of the Year,” Mr Farrell said.
