Your Slim Chance: The awesome foursome's final weigh-in
CONGRATULATIONS to all who took part in The Northern Star's 12-week Your Slim Chance challenge, including our readers at home. We really hope you are on your way to a healthier and happier life.
A big thanks also to our weight loss consultant Gavin Tierney and Anytime Fitness Lismore, who helped put our challengers through their paces.
We'd also like to thank the team at Lismore's Mahican Pink Hair Studio, who styled the girls for their photo.
Here's what our contestants had to say about their three-month journey.
Cristy Hancock, 31, of Casino, lost 8.6kg in the week before the challenge started and then 5.7kg.
"Thank you for this awesome opportunity you have given me to help me become a better me," she said.
"You have to start somewhere ... even if it's just a little each week ... an extra glass of water each day, even.
"I have learnt that even though you might not go so well one or two weeks doesn't mean you have to continue to go down hill, just get back on track as soon as you can.
"My biggest success is having that little more energy so that when my kids ask to go for a ride or to the park I'm like 'sure, lets go' instead of 'no, I can't be bothered - maybe next week'.
"My plan is to continue to do what I'm doing now - smaller amounts of food, healthier options and daily exercise.
"I have been doing this better lifestyle for the last three months and feeling better for it so why would I want to stop now when I can achieve so much more."
Greg Holland, 51, of Goonellabah, lost 11kg.
"I will be incorporating the program in to my everyday life and hopefully have greater results.
"I want to tell people to never give up. You may have some hurdles but keep going.
"My biggest temptation was trying to eat smaller meals and cutting sweet things out.
"My biggest success was losing weight. I have stuck with the program, eaten healthily and enjoyed going to the gym."
Leeanne Sanders, 54, of Goonellabah, lost 13kg.
"It really isn't hard to achieve weight loss, but to keep it off has always been the thing," she said.
"But this journey is to culminate in a new, healthy me forever.
"I have become lazy in the past and bought too much takeaway food, and chocolate has always been my downfall.
"I have really realised that eating healthy food is just as easy, and can certainly save some money. I have enjoyed the rediscovery of the taste of vegetables and salads - they don't have to be swamped in gravy and mayonnaise.
" Exercising is not a chore - I can enjoy a bit of 'me time'.
" As Gavin says, 'keep it simple'. It is not a big chore or impossible to achieve, we just have to be sensible. It is only to benefit ourselves, no one else. We have this one life, so make the best of it."
Donna Connolly, 42, of Rock Valley, lost 8.5kg.
"With every meal comes a choice and you need to move every day in some way," she said.
"You owe it to yourself to try and lose some weight and get healthier, for now and for the future. Don't live with regrets.
"My biggest success has been learning about balance, eating mindfully again and feeling the benefits of eating well.
"It does impact on the body, mind and spirit.
"I am going to keep on the journey I have started, to be the healthiest version of me using the challenge as the blue print."
