Art raises mental health awareness

ENTRIES are now open for the second annual Mental Health Art Exhibition with all works to go on display in three Lismore locations from mid- October.

The exhibition aims to raise community awareness, reduce stigma and encourage social inclusion.

It is open to anyone whose life has been touched by mental health issues, including friends and family of sufferers.

This year's theme is Celebrate, Connect and Grow, and it will showcase a diverse range of local works including ceramics, sculpture, installation work, paintings, photography, drawings, textile, writing and digital displays.

The public will be invited to vote on a people's choice awards.

Co-facilitator Kristine Uebergang said last year's exhibition was a beautiful and heart-warming experience. "You could see it touched the public in a very personal way," Ms Uebergang said.
