Deli received boost from winning Business of the Year award

THERE are plenty of perks to having an award-winning business.

Michael and Anke Fellner, of Deli 4U in Ballina, took out the Business of the Year category at last year's Ballina Shire Northern Star Business Excellence Awards.

And they haven't stopped since.

"We haven't had a slow moment; it's been full steam ahead," Ms Fellner said.

"We're very proud of winning Business of the Year and our staff love it.

"Our aim is to respect people and be friendly.

"The girls always remember what kind of coffees people have.

"We try to help people."

The Ballina Shire Northern Star Business Excellence Awards are hosted by the Ballina Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The organisation's executive officer, Nadia Eliott-Burgess, said the awards were about "raising the bar".

"The hallmarks of an award-winning business include great service, a really good-looking brand and quality products," she said.

"Businesses need to be flexible."

Mr Fellner said Deli 4U continued to go from strength to strength.

"Our business is still growing and we're seeing a lot more confidence in business at the moment," he said.

"Our catering section is doing really well."

With the gala awards night now less than a fortnight away, Ms Eliott-Burgess urged people to secure their tickets.

She said it was a good opportunity for colleagues to enjoy a night out.

"Everything's coming along really well for the awards - we're counting the votes for people's choice at the moment," she said.
