Award almost names Tabulam best community racing club in NSW
TABULAM Racing Club may not be the absolute best community racing club in the state, in some people's opinions, but it's close.
The club was one of four finalists for the award of Best Community Racing Club in NSW, but was pipped by the Adaminaby racing club, about half-way between Jindabyne and Canberra.
And while little Tabulam may not have got the gong, it's still justifiably pleased with the result.
"I'm sorry to inform you that we did not win the award for Best Community Race Club in NSW, but we are extremely proud that we were chosen as one of four finalists," the club's Milton King said in a Facebook post.
"The competition was extremely high.
"It is wonderful to see tiny clubs like ours thriving in the bush of NSW, Congratulations to Adaminaby Jockey Club, deserved winners as The Best Community Race Club in NSW."
The news comes barely a month from Tabulam's annual race day, which is scheduled for November 7.
The club is currently spruiking tickets to its VIP Marquee, saying the $110 entry fee is set just to cover the cost of having the marquee.
"You don't have to be a VIP to join this marquee, in fact there will not be any VIP's in there," the club says on its Facebook page.
"What you get, however, is to be treated like a VIP for 6 hours."
