Australia Day award for Dunoon United

DUNOON United Football Club Committee has again been recognised in the Lismore City Council's 2018 Australia Day Awards.

Club president Rob Gatt said DUFC was thrilled to be the 2018 Australia Day Award recipient for Sports Team category

Gatt said by acting as a central hub for the community of Dunoon and District, the DUFC uses sport to enhance its vision for inclusion, fun and fitness through football.

He said being nominated by members of the community in both the sports and services in the community (group) categories of the Australia Day Awards is acknowledgement of the strength of the Club and the commitment of its Committee.

"Being a recipient of an Australia Day Award is something to be proud of and Dunoon United Football Club congratulates all nominees and award winners,” he said

"The committee was humbled and incredibly pleased to have received the Award and that it was excellent recognition of the type of work that not only the Dunoon United Football Club Committee do for the community, but all sporting clubs.”

Gatt said the Australia Day award was fantastic, coming not long after being awarded the 2017 Northern NSW Community Club of the Year.

He said with the introduction of the NSW Government Active Kids Voucher Program DUFC hope to see many more children involved in football.

"In 2018 Dunoon United Football Club has some exciting new initiatives targeted specifically at younger players and their initial experience of football,” he said.

"We will be providing a development opportunity for children that want to take their football to the next level”.

The club will be accepting registrations as of 1 February 2018 and is keen for anyone interested or wanting more details to check out the club website www.dunoonunitedfc.org.au
