Aussies claim consolation T20 international win
AUSTRALIA has secured a consolation win over Sri Lanka in the third Twenty20 International at the Adelaide Oval. In a strong performance with the bat and ball, Michael Klinger and Adam Zampa were the stars for the home side.
Sri Lanka was all out in 18 overs as Australia's bowlers turned the screws in devastating fashion.
The Lankans, seeking 188 for victory, were bowled out for 146 in 18 overs - giving Australia a consolation win in its 2-1 series loss.
The tourists lost their last nine wickets in less than 12 overs, with Adam Zampa and James Faulkner doing the bulk of the damage.
Sri Lanka looked comfortable early in the innings at 1/68 before they lost 5/23, including three wickets in two overs from Zampa.
They never looked like recovering.
Zampa finished with 3/25 from four overs and named man of the match. Faulkner also claimed 3/20 from three overs.
Opener Dilshan Munaweera was the best of the Sri Lankan batsmen, hitting 37 runs from 25 balls.
Asela Gunaratne was named player of the series for his heroics in the first two matches in the series.
