Aussie kids become budding bonds

AUSSIE spy kids can learn to become "budding bonds" with the newly transformed St Ermin's MGallery Hotel launching a fun children's package.

The package includes overnight accommodation in a family room, a local London Spy Walk Challenge, a specially created spy pack and breakfast from just £275 per night including VAT.

The children's spy pack includes a book of codes and code writing puzzles plus a secret agent's aptitude test, in recognition of the fact that the hotel was the birthplace of Winston Churchill's MI6.

Once the 'budding bond' training is complete, newly crowned secret agents earn a non-alcoholic cocktail, shaken not stirred, at the hotel's Caxton Bar.

Each child at check-in receives a free secret agent pack containing confidential information on the hotel's links to MI6 and the role it played in the infamous 'Cambridge Five' Burgess and Maclean affair. A book of codes and code writing tips help the budding agent develop spy skills whilst a series of searching questions will test their observational skills.

The hotel was used by both MI6 and the SOE (forerunner of the current special forces units) during WWII whilst the Caxton Bar was one of the meeting places for double agents Burgess and Maclean when passing secrets to the Russian secret service. Churchill is also known to have used the Caxton Bar during the war after his speeches at the Caxton Hall next door whilst rumours of a secret tunnel from the hotel to the Houses of Parliament are difficult to disprove.

St Ermin's is a fantastically located hotel with a rich history, just a short stroll from both Westminster Abbey, Buckingham Palace and St James Park.

Having undergone a £30 million renovation program, the heritage hotel has retained its Victorian architecture, Art Nouveau styling and Rococo plasterwork and has been given a stunning make-over with sumptuous furnishings and all modern comforts.

The St Ermin's is the first British hotel to join the exclusive MGallery Collection of hotels.
