2017 has already got off to a winning start for School Captain, Oliver Rixon, from St Brigid’s Primary School Kyogle. Oliver was named in Kyogle’s Australia Day Awards as the recipient of the Minor Sportsperson of the Year Award.
Accepting the Award on Australia Day from Kyogle boy and Champion Bullrider, David Kennedy was a great honour for Oliver.
His achievements in sport for 2016 included being the 11 year old boy Champion in Athletics at St. Brigid’s, where he then went on to represent the school in Athletics and Cross Country.
Outside of school, Oliver received Kyogle Soccer Club’s Perpetual Award for the player with potential, receiving the Best and Fairest for the 2016 season. He was also accepted into the International Academy Program at Southern Cross Football Centre for 2017.
“This is a wonderful recognition within our community of the person that Oliver is. He is a very well respected and loyal member of our school and it is terrific to see his efforts acknowledged within the wider community of Kyogle” said Principal of St Brigid’s Primary, Tony Hunter.
