Casino High athletes win medal haul at titles

A WEALTH of sporting ability is being discovered at Casino High School and students Kiarrah Piccoli and Chris Skinner are leading the charge.

Both students have recently competed at the NSW Combined High Schools state titles and came back with some well-earned medals.

In her first year of high school Kiarrah is continuing her sporting prowess from primary school by coming second in the 200m sprint and third in the 100m sprint at the state titles.

"When she was in primary school she was always making it to state level for her running, long jump, discus and shot put," proud mum Tina Piccoli said.

"Now she will be off to the All Schools Championships in October for her 100m and 200m running."

Kiarrah is looking beyond high school when it comes to running.

"I want to run in the 2018 Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast," she said.

"I love running both short and long distances."

Year 11 student Chris has been throwing shot put since Year 7 and this year got a third placing in the state titles.

"I like athletics and sports," he said.

"Three years ago I smashed the javelin record (at state level) and got bronze."

Both students also play other sports including soccer and touch football for Kiarrah and rugby league and boxing for Chris.
