Assault over mobile phone leaves teen with broken jaw

POLICE have arrested a 20-year-old man in relation to assault on Friday night that left a 17-year-old teen with a possible broken jaw.

Inspector Nicole Bruce from the Richmond Local Area Command said the 17-year-old victim was walking along Keen St near the intersection with Magellan St in Lismore at 12.20am on Saturday morning.

He was  approached by the alleged offender who punched him in the jaw and stole his mobile phone.

Police arrested the offender less than an hour later in Ainsley St in Girards Hill.

He was charged with aggravated robbery and was refused bail to appear in Lismore Local Court today.
