Murdered toddler's ashes stolen

THE ashes of murdered toddler Deidre Kennedy were stolen from her family's Laidley home on Sunday.

Police held a press conference on Monday afternoon in a bid to recover the girl’s remains after they were taken during a break-and-enter.

Police believe the theft occurred between 1.30pm and 8.15pm.

It is believed the thief gained entry to the house via a rear sliding door.

Faye Kennedy’s 16-month-old daughter was murdered in Ipswich in 1973 after being taken from her cot.

Her body was found on top of a toilet block in Limestone Park.

She had been beaten, sexually assaulted, dressed in women’s underwear and had bite marks on her thigh.
