Art of the environment

‘Wandering Experiences’ is the theme of the exhibition currently on display at Richmond Valley’s Platypus Gallery. The exhibition is a collection of local Aboriginal paintings, National Parks photos, scrap booking and a patchwork quilt calling for action on climate change.

The 350 Climate Quilt was crafted in an attempt to draw attention to the debate on climate change and the push to reduce carbon emissions. The quilt was presented to federal parliament members as part of the 350 global movement against climate change. This campaign highlights the need for less than 350 parts per million of CO2 in the atmosphere to make our climate dependable into the future.

The National Parks photo display highlights the beauty of the parks in our region and there are paintings by the Aboriginal Jambama Artists available for purchase. The various works within the exhibition all have a focus on the natural environment and the exhibition will run until May 30.

Platypus Gallery is located at 86 Centre St in Casino and is open 7 days a week from 9am – 4pm.
