Army chopper damaged after landing heavily during training

AN ARMY helicopter has been damaged after landing heavily during training operations on the northern Darling Downs.

A Department of Defence spokesman said the two occupants of a Kiowa helicopter were not injured when it landed heavily at Brymaroo Airfield this morning.

"One of the skids is slightly bent," the spokesman said.

"There was never any danger to the crew."

He said the crew was practicing forced landings.

"It was just heavier than normal."

He said Defence would investigate the incident.
