Armed man taken into custody after Blue Mountains siege

AN ARMED man has been tasered and taken into custody following a three and a half hour siege in the NSW Blue Mountains.

Police were allegedly lured into bush land by a man who dialled 000 and said he was at Bluff Lookout with a loaded gun late Wednesday.

Negotiators were called in and the dog squad tracked the man.

When the man emerged from the bush and allegedly produced a black handgun, he was chased.

He allegedly challenged two officers and was tasered.

The 56-year-old has since been charged with eight counts of assaulting police, possessing ammunition and an unregistered firearm and using an offensive weapon with intent to commit an indictable offence.
