Apology issued to customers for ATM and EFTPOS outage
AN INTERMITTENT payment processing application glitch has been identified as the cause of ATM and EFTPOS problems for Northern Rivers residents on Thursday.
Dozens of Northern Star readers took to the papers Facebook page on Thursday to express their frustration at the outages in Lismore, Ballina and Evans Head.
First Data Managing Director John Tait apologised to customers impacted by the application error, which was rectified by 1pm.
"First Data provides processing services to a range of financial institutions across the area," he said.
"First Data experienced a processing outage that impacted customers across the region.
"The problem was related to an application error in our processing system."
Mr Tait said no customers accounts were placed at risk of fraud.
