Zoe an Easter Classic veteran

By ADAM HICKS ZOE DEVLIN started at the Lismore Easter Classic tennis tournament as a toddler watching her older brother Luke compete.

While Luke, 19, is now serving with the army in East Timor, his 11-year-old sister Zoe yesterday played in the 14 years and under category, and breezed through the first round 10-0.

"It was good, I played well and hit a lot of my serves in and got aces," she said after the win.

Over four days of competition, Zoe will also play in the Division 2 women's singles and step out with dad Wayne in the parent/child doubles.

The dad and daughter duo have already proved a winning combination, taking out the C-grade doubles in a tournament at Inverell last month.

The Bathurst Junior Open attracts some the State's best players and Zoe was a runner-up in the 12 years and under doubles and also defeated the fourth seed to make it to the singles semi-finals.

Zoe's brother Bryce, 15, has also entered the Lismore tournament in the open men's division. He also came home from Bathurst with a doubles trophy.

The Devlins are among 140 competitors who have signed up to play across 20 events in the 83rd year of the tournament. Play continues over the weekend.
