World expert at design forum



THE Northern Rivers Urban Design Awards have secured the world's leading figure in sustainable building to deliver a workshop as a part of the 2005 awards program.

Che Wall is chairman of the World Green Building Council Incorporated, director of the Green Building Council of Australia and received the 2004 Prime Minister's Environmentalist of The Year Award.

He has written numerous articles on the subject of sustainable design practice, and presents papers on the commercial application of sustainable design at international forums.

Mr Wall will be the main speaker at a groundbreaking workshop, Building Sustainably ? The Only Way Forward, at Southern Cross Uni- versity on August 17.

The workshop is targeted to the needs of developers and their staff, architects, planners, sustainability consultants and practitioners, builders and local government planners and engineers.

Entries to the Northern Rivers Urban Design Awards closed yesterday.

Entries are in three categories: Commercial, government/community, and villages.

A further industry workshop, Urban Design At The Coalface Of Regional Development, will be held in Byron Bay on August 18.
