Women oppose rotunda move

By ZOE SATHERLEY

LISMORE City Council plans to remove the rotunda from Spinks Park and a number of women are not happy about it, says Cr Vanessa Ekins.

"All the women I have spoken to from the CWA, the civic pride committee, the croquet club, the historical society and the bowling club are against it," Cr Ekins said.

"Under our new council rules the development application to remove the rotunda didn't go before a council meeting, so the first we heard of it was after it was approved.

"Council's special projects manager, Lindsay Walker, told me today that all the men he had spo- ken to supported the proposal, but I wanted to know what women he had spoken to."

A $40,000 grant will be used to refurbish the rotunda and it will be moved to the lawn adjacent to the Lismore Croquet Club.
