Who needs Milton?

"WHO needs Milton Thaiday?"

That was the cheeky reaction of Ballina coach Chris Binge after the Seagulls belted South Grafton 66-20 in the fourth round of Northern Rivers Regional Rugby League at Kingsford Smith Park, Ballina, yesterday.

Thaiday, the former NSW Waratah who signed mid-week and played with the Newcastle Knights yesterday, was hardly missed as the Seagulls ran in 12 tries to four.

Thaiday's replacement in the centres, teenager Mitch Aubusson, scored four tries and had a sensational game.

However, he was usurped as player of the match by debutante run-on prop James Rix.

The Ballina Under-18 captain was brilliant.

"I've never seen a debut like it," Ballina president Bill Wilson said.

"He played the full 80 minutes and he was running as strong at the end of the match as he was at the start.

"I went down to congratulate Chris Binge, who needs to take a lot of credit for the way the boys are playing, and he looked at me, gave me a big wink and said 'Who needs Milton Thaiday?'"

Hooker Matt Temby was another to star with a hat-trick of tries.
