Whippys Image the favourite
UNBEATEN Whippy's Image will start favourite in the Coraki Hotel Classic Final 520m at the Lismore Greyhounds tonight.
Whippy's Image made it six wins from six starts when he scored an all-the-way win in his heat in a smart 30.09s from box one.
He has drawn nicely in box two tonight and should get a clear run in the early stages.
Recent Lismore Cup winner Carnage Maker has drawn awkwardly in box six.
Carnage Maker missed the start when he finished a 10 length fourth behind Whippy's Image last week, but a good start will see him right in the race.
The speedy Splendour was beaten a half-head in her heat in 30.19s from box four and being set in box one should be in with a shot.
Turley's advantage Meanwhile, Leeville trainer Dean Turley holds the advantage after getting two runners through to the $5000 Casino RSM Club/DG Waldron Final on Friday.
He qualified with litter sisters So Exciting and Real Exciting, who are by Dean's stud dog Excite Ability. So Exciting ran the fastest of the heats - 27.42s in winning by almost three lengths from Silent Aim. She tracked wide most of the way and will be well suited if drawn wide in the final.
In contrast Real Exciting, who is unbeaten at Casino, railed well throughout before scoring by two lengths in 29.71s.
Both greyhounds are owned by John Wilcox, and connections can look forward to bold showings from them.
All Sting, trained by Brad Northfield was the second fastest qualifier running 27.62s He railed under the early leader Pro Line down the side and went on to win by almost four lengths.
Next best was Go Wild Fiona who led all of the way in 27.80s for Les Purnell.
Other winners were Brad Rail who stuck to his 'guns' throughout to win by a length in 28.05s for Bill Northfield and I'm A Parker who got through along the rails near home to scrape in by a neck for Mick Patterson in 27.91s.
Nellie Bligh defeated a top class Free For All field when she was with the pack early and then navigated traffic going into the back.
At that point she raced clear while the others were bumping into each other. On the line she won by three-and-a-quarter lengths in a very handy 27.58s.
In what could be a prelude to this months Charcoal Inn Casino Cup she showed good track sense for trainer Reg Gardoll.
Reg was also in the winners circle earlier when Mostly Missy took out the Nature Vet maiden by a length in 23.88s.
There's a double header this week with the normal TAB meeting on Friday afternoon followed by a non TAB meeting on Sunday afternoon featuring the heats of the Nature Vet Pop Northfield Memorial Maiden. Both days should feature top class racing and chasing.
