Top players on cue for snooker tournament

ADAM Kinghorn of Brisbane, the Australian Under-21 champion, will compete in the Lismore Workers Club open handicap snooker tournament this long weekend.

The field this year also includes Far North Coast A-grade champion Tom Lucas (Ocean Shores), FNC open handicap champion Mick Lane (Burleigh Waters), highly ranked Brisbane players Adrian Ashford, Phil Laycock, Steve Donaghoe, Brett Hunter and Paul Mayturn, and Armidale's Greg Schalk.

Last year's winner Dave Laneyrie (Coffs Harbour) and runner-up Paul Carter (Lismore) will also join the field.

Total prizemoney is $2600.

Lismore Workers Snooker Club president Geoff Vitnell said players with the ability to compile century breaks would be lining up, but said it was almost impossible to pick a winner.

Preliminary matches will start at 9.30am on Saturday and 9am on Sunday, with the finals from 8.30am on Monday.
