Three charged over assault

Three youths were arrested yesterday over the alleged bashing and robbery of a man at Lismore 11 days ago.

A 20-year-old Lismore man was allegedly bashed as his 19year-old Lismore female companion was allegedly chased down and sexually assaulted at Mortimer Oval about 3.45am on March 20.

The attackers had allegedly demanded money.

Ballina detectives late yesterday charged a 17-year-old from Lismore and a 17-year-old from Goonellabah with robbery and serious assault matters relating to the incident.

A third 17-year-old, also from Goonellabah, was charged with robbery.

The three males were bailed to appear at Lismore Children's Court on separate dates: April 13, 18 and 27 respectively.

Police Inspector Glenn Gilbert said investigations were con- tinuing.
