Thousands celebrate Casino's 150th birthday

FOR Keith Staff, meeting his blushing new bride Jan has given him a reason to go places he's never been before.

"I moved to Evans Head two years ago to retire and because I didn't know the area I was reluctant to venture past Ballina," the 66year-old said.

On Saturday, Keith and Jan headed out to Casino to help the locals celebrate the town's 150th birthday.

"Jan gives me a reason to get out of the house and see new places. I want to show her around," he said.

"Casino is beautiful, we couldn't have picked a better day."

Keith and Jan met through the Internet and were married in November last year.

"We were emailing each other and talking on the phone for four months before I jumped on a plane to Mildura to meet her," he said.

"She sold up everything and came back to Evans Head with me.

"We're madly in love."
