Those 'things with wings' set sail tonight

BARTERCARD Lismore Speedway hosts the 'Things with Wings', with the spectacular Sprintcars taking over the centre arena tonight at the Lismore Showground.
Among the 15 nominated Sprintcar 'pilots' is 34-year-old Darren Jenson.
Jenson performed well at the recent World Sprintcars Series, with two top-10 finishes in Brisbane.
He presently leads the Comp Cams series, with Lismore boasting five of the top 10 series racers here tonight.
And perhaps hoping that female form will continue at the speedway, after Tania Smith's recent performances, is woman racer Robyn Dennis.
Sprintcars feature a 372 cubic-inch Chev engine producing 800hp using alcohol injection.
All of this power is sent direct drive to a massive two-foot wide rear tyre which can quite often result in huge wheelstands.
Their power-to-weight ratio is comparable to a Formula One machine. The main thing keeping them stuck to the clay racing surface is the huge top wing, itself adjustable for track conditions.
Nominated drivers for tonight's action are: 3 Clem Hoffman, 10 Craig Stevenson, 11 Joseph Tulloch, 22 Ben Foster, 35 Wayne Lemon, 39 Robyn Dennis, 43 Tony Blacker, 53 Bruce Marshall, 54 Richard Morgan, 66 Phil Foster, 72 Anthony Vanderryeden, 73 Dave Horrall, 74 Brodie Tulloch, 75 Darren Jenson and 99 Brock Dean.
Support classes consist of Stockers, Streeters, 4-Cylinders and Juniors.
The gates open at 3pm with racing scheduled from 6pm.
