FOR Ballina's Milton Thaiday, the Northern Rivers Regional Rugby League match against Byron Bay yesterday completed a full circle. The talented utility back has had a remarkable four years, punctuated by highs and lows. In 2001, Thaiday wowed crowds around the Northern Rivers, starring for Lismore Workers as he won The Northern Star Group One Player of the Year award. The fullback was then signed to a rugby union training contract by the NSW Waratahs, breaking into the Super 12 starting XV the following season. In 2004 he formed part of a backline that included fellow league converts Mat Rogers and Lote Tuqiri. But things were not what they seemed and he admitted publicly that he was battling alcoholism. Now back on the Northern Rivers, Thaiday has linked with Ballina and he has lost none of that wow factor on the football field.
