Terriers face-off again
By STEVE SPINKS
JACK Russell racing is not for the faint-hearted.
You may think little Jack Russells are nothing but cute little dogs, but put them on a greyhound track and they become lean, mean racing machines ... most of the time.
Occasionally, instead of racing, Jack Russell's like to chase birds or run to their owners.
Sometimes it seems they're not competitive at all.
But for Lismore's St Joseph's Aged Care Facility the sprightly Jack Russells are an annual source of fun, excitement and much-needed funds.
Yes, it's that time of year again when the fourth annual Jack Russell-Greyhound racing night is run and won.
With the main night set down for March 8, organisers are desperate for more local Jack Russell owners to turn up for the trials which are held each Thursday evening at 5pm at the Colemans Point track.
It is expected the event will once again showcase a State Of Origin race against Queensland.
Supporters of the night are encouraged to get in early and purchase their tickets from St Joseph's for $5.
There will also be a full night of greyhound racing in conjunction with the event.
