Take a bow, boys

A BIG 'well done' to Andrew Gordon and Dave Kapeen who were the heart and soul behind the inaugural Bundjalung Cricket Festival at Ballina last weekend.

The two have been big supporters of Aboriginal cricket on the Far North Coast and it's good to see their efforts coming to fruition.

Four teams contested the senior Twenty-20 competition on Sunday, while 45 juniors were involved in the coaching clinic on Saturday.

In a great initiative, an Under-12 FNC Aboriginal team will take on the Ballina District Under-12 team on Australia Day in January, while an Under-17 game is also being organised.

There was one small hiccup before the Twenty-20 carnival.

Maclean and Kyogle were down to play in the seniors which would have made the carnival a six-team knockout.

However, Maclean decided to enjoy the Tabulam Races instead, while Kyogle had car troubles and didn't have enough seats to transport the full side across to Ballina.

Apparently 11 players in two cars, plus cricket gear, is a bit of a squash.

Still and all, a great weekend of cricket was had by everyone.
