Steph to fly the flag for FNC

Phil Roxburgh THE Surfing Far North Coast team put in some great performances at the Quiksilver NSW State Titles held at Shelly Beach on the Central Coast.

FNC missed out on a title but managed to go close with three finalists and unearthed some new talent.

The finalists were Byron Bay surfers Stephanie Sallis (third in Under-18 girls), Lana Parkes (second in Under-14 girls) and Soli Bailey (second in Under-14 boys). Results (winners and best FNC performances): Under-18 boys: 1 Chris Salisbury, 7 Brent Savage (Casuarina), 9 Bryce Young (Angourie), 13 Garrett Parkes (Byron Bay), 17 Torren Martyn (Byron Bay), 25 Kieran Lloyd (Kingscliff). Under-18 girls: 1 Sally Fitzgibbons, 3 Stephanie Sallis (Byron Bay), 7 Sophie Butler (Byron Bay), 19 Natalie Briggs (Byron Bay). Under-16 boys: 1 Billy Bain, 9 Damo Norman (Casuarina), 17 Regan Fredericks (Lennox Head). Under-16 girls: 1 Tyler Wright, 13 Codie Klein, 13 Maddi King (Byron Bay), 19 Tammy Wheeler. Under-14 boys: 1 Matt Banting, 2 Soli Bailey (Byron Bay), 10 Beau Cram (Casuarina), 19 Jack McKenzie (Cabarita). Under-14 girls: 1 Ellie Jean Coffey, 2 Lana Parkes (Byron Bay).

The Under-14s do not progress to national level, so Steph Sallis will have to fly the flag in South Australia in December.

Chris Salisbury (Newport Beach) and Sally Fitzgibbons (Gerroa) successfully defended their Quiksilver Under-18 State titles.
