Siblings on track

IT was a case of sibling rivalry at the Ballina race meeting on Saturday when the Coleman brothers fought out their own personal duel from the saddle. Darron Coleman finished with two winners from the five races, but he couldn't get the better of brother Robert, who also finished with two majors. Robert got the jump on his premiership-winning brother by guiding home Good Result in the Dencorp Engineering Handicap (1250m). Darron replied in the third race with a win by Precious Epic in the Maiden Plate (1300m) before Robert got back in front almost immediately with a win on Top Perch in the fourth. However, Darron, who has won the Northern Rivers jockeys premiership for the past two seasons, rode home Thirtysixred in the Class 1 Handicap (1000m). Ballina jockey Lorna Cook broke the Colemans' dominance with a winner in the second race. The next local meeting will be Tabulam Cup day on Saturday. It is always one of the most popular events on the racing calendar.
