Show must go on, but not at same location

By KRISTINE CURNOW news@northernstar.com.au IT IS the end of an era for the Thursday Plantation Sculpture Show. A change of ownership at TP Health Ltd means this year's show will be the last at Ballina's Thursday Plantation. Curator Priya Woolston is now exploring options for a new home and a new sponsor for the show. In the meantime, Ms Woolston is encouraging everyone to come to the 12th and last show at its original home. "If it's something you always meant to get to, make a special point of coming this year," she said. This year's collection will include 59 new works and pieces in the permanent collection by 41 previous award winners. The show will be opened by Irina Baronova, formerly of the Ballets Russes, with a gala garden party on Sunday, September 30, from 12pm to 5pm. Prizewinners will be announced at the official opening at 2.30pm. Entry is $5, which includes a catalogue. The Sculpture Show will be open from 9am to 5pm, seven days a week, until January 31 next year. For further information call Priya Woolston on 6684 0076.
