Senior teacher faces child sex charges



A SENIOR Northern Rivers school teacher is facing child sex assault charges.

The man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was arrested by police last Thursday.

He was charged with three counts of committing aggravated sexual assault on a minor and one count of committing an aggravated act of indecency on a minor.

The man later appeared in the Lismore Local court and was granted bail.

During that court appearance the magistrate ruled the man's name should not be published.

Under NSW law, the name of an alleged victim of a crime below the age of 18 is never revealed.

An alleged victim of a sex crime cannot be identified at any age.

The man will appear again in the Lismore Local Court on March 4 next year.
