Queenslander takes out Challenge Final

A GOOD crowd braved the cold, wet weather to see Bogie Skye take out the Rous Hotel Interclub Challenge Final (520m) at the Lismore greyhounds at Colemans Point on Tuesday night.

Four runners from Lismore and four from Ipswich qualified in local finals the previous week for a place in the field.

Queensland dog Bogie Skye ($5.40), which is owned by Leslie Bein and trained by leading mentor Tony Brett, proved too good.

Bogie Skye began perfectly from box eight and quickly opened up a winning break. The result was never in doubt.

Rank outsider Atomic Miss ($37.40) ran on well to take second money, beaten a length and a half, while the hot favourite Hermione Holly ($1.70) finished third another three-quarters of a length away after struggling in the wet conditions.

Bogie Skye clinched $5000 for the win. The time of 30.47s was the best of the night on a rain-affected track.
