Putting icing on the kids? cake

TANYA ANDERSON hopes she can get enough time away from her kids to add the final touches to the giant birthday cake for tomorrow's Our Kids Family Day.

The day is one big party to celebrate the Lismore Base Hospital Children's Ward turning 21 this year.

And like any coming of age party, it would not be complete without a cake.

Tanya, from Tanya's Cakes, was busy building the layered delight yesterday, saying she expected to spend more than 20 hours on the voluntary creation for Our Kids.

The Lennox Head mother-ofthree said she agreed to make the cake because her middle son, two-

year-old Cameron, was a children's ward patient after an operation about eight months ago.

"I have never made a cake this large before, but I decided to give it a go because it was such a good cause."

The family day will be held at Mortimer Oval, Lismore, from 10am.

Fun activities, live music and clowns will be some of the high- lights.
