LENNOX Head-based professional triathlete Pip Taylor, pictured, will be a special guest at the inaugural Northern Star Southern Cross Ten Junior Sports Star of the Year presentation lunch at the Goonellabah RSL Sports Club next Wednesday.

Taylor, who has only just returned to full training and competition following a short break, will present all the monthly winners with their prizes as well as announcing the 2005 Junior Sports Star of the Year.

She will also offer an insight into what it takes to become a professional athlete.

Taylor, who is ranked in the top five in Australia, is only relatively new to the sport.

The Manly native competed at a national junior level in swimming and athletics before deciding while at university that triathlon would be her go.

Since then she has steadily moved through the ranks.

She was the Australian Junior Elite Triathlete of the Year and the Australian Under-23 Triathlete of the Year.

Taylor also qualified for the Australian senior team for the Triathlon World Championships while still being eligible for the Under-23s.

Since stepping up to the senior level, she has won several World Cup events, including Manchester and Wakayama in Japan.
