Pick of the bunch in Lismore

A DELIGHT for quaffers and a fundraiser for the Our Kids charity, the first-ever Lismore Wine Fair will be held on Sunday September 19, from noon to 4pm, at the award-winning Left Bank Cafe, 133 Molesworth Street.

The wine fair will feature the lovingly-bottled produce of seven leading wine representatives who are visiting to display a selection from their choice Australian and New Zealand Wines. Each will be presenting half a dozen different selections from their portfolio, include wines from the Margaret River, Hunter Valley, McLaren Vale, Barossa, Padthaway, Langhorne Creek, Mount Baker and other notable areas. All the wines sampled and displayed can be ordered on the day through Lismore Cellars.

Along with the fine wines there will be tastings from Menins Foodstore Deli Section, including Chilli stuffed with Feta, Salamis, imported Cheeses, and marinated vegetables. On the day,

Australia Estate Coffee ? which has won Gold at the Sydney Royal Easter Show ? will be offering tastings of different styles of coffee with added flavours appealing to a wide range of tastes.

Throughout the day there will be 20 'Spot' Lucky Door Prizes to give away, along with the Major Prize being a Wine Rack filled with one bottle of every wine being displayed ? a total of over four dozen wines.

Entry to the Lismore Wine Fair will be $10 per person, with all proceeds going to Our Kids, which raises money to purchase new technology and equipment for Paediatric Services at Lismore Base Hospital, enabling more children to be cared for locally.

Our Kids, more formally known as the Northern Rivers Children's Health Fund, was inspired by Lismore-based paediatrician, Dr Chris Ingall in October 2002. Our Kids is a self-funded charity which has its headquarters in Lismore, a major regional center, and many facilities in the Richmond, Tweed and Clarence valleys.

Our Kids has a part-time fundraising officer, Rebekka Battista, and a Community Committee, chaired by Annie Curtin, that helps raise funds and awareness for the charity. Flagship fundraisers have been the 'Our Kids Calendar' and Melbourne Cup Day luncheon.
