Now its a Showdown for major sponsorship

THE All Girls Surf Showdown for next year is at risk, according to organisers, unless a major naming rights sponsor can be found.

The three-day event on the June long weekend at Lennox Head/Ballina beaches is the highlight of the local women's surfing calendar.

Contest co-director Rachael Bonhote-Mead said the not-for profit volunteer event had been run for 15 years.

"The All Girls Surf Showdown is continually expanding its number of participants and is well recognised within the surfing communities as promoting some of the best up-and-coming women surfers in the world," she said.

"This is an opportunity to ensure we develop a future for female surfers amateur and professional their skills and competitiveness.

"This event attracts incredible tourism, with more than 200 competitors.

"The success of the event over the 15 years can largely be put down to the generosity and support of local businesses."

Inquiries regarding sponsorship can be directed to Sara Hurren on 0437-867139.
