New league?s split rounds

THE inaugural annual general meeting of the new Northern Rivers Regional Rugby League was held on Tuesday night at the Ballina Seagulls Club.

Group One and Group 18 clubs elected board-members for the 2005 season for the combined 13-team competition.

Former Group One president Robin Harley was elected president, while Group One secretary Doug Harrison and treasurer Garry Williams followed him onto the executive.

Vice-presidents will be John Borrowdale (Cudgen) and Barry Harmon (Marist Brothers).

There was also initial discussions on the draw.

"There will be 18 rounds," Harley said.

"There will be two rounds between teams in the north or south divisions and then one round where everyone plays each other."

Vic McGuiness, Tony Durheim, Tony Parker, Lindsay Bowne and Bill Carroll were elected to the management committee.
