Nathan?s long wait for drugs hearing

BYRON BAY kayaker Nathan Baggaley could have a long wait before getting the chance to clear his name.

Baggaley tested positive to the steroids stanozolol and methandienone following an out of competition drug test conducted by the Australian Sports Drug Agency on September 13.

The hearing by Australian Canoeing is yet to be convened as Baggaley was only officially notified of his infraction recently.

The three-time world K1 500m champion has 14 days to respond.

A hearing date is then sorted out between the lawyers of both parties.

Australian Canoeing has the power to conduct its own tribunal or it could refer the matter to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

As yet, there has been no explanation of how the steroids came to be in Baggaley's body.
