MYSTERY surrounds the death of Tabulam 16-year-old Ashley Walker whose body was discovered in the early hours of Saturday morning.
Police were called to a house at the Jabulum mission near Tabulam about 4.15am, where the teenager was discovered with a deep laceration to her arm.
She was taken to Bonalbo hospital and pronounced dead on arrival.
According to Ashley's aunt, Tammy Collins, the TAFE student spent Friday night at her cousin Kevin Walker's house after a two-week holiday with a relative.
Mr Walker was away on the Gold Coast at the time.
Another aunt, Jenny Hickling, said two of Ashley's friends were asleep in the house that night, but it was a mystery who called the police or how she died.
Ms Hickling's brother, Billy Walker, said he had heard different versions of the events.
"One story is that she had a dispute with a cousin and put her arm through a window," he said.
Ms Hickling said glass from a broken window had been removed by police.
Inspector David Larkin said police were investigating the incident and preparing a report for the coroner.
He said a 19-year-old male from the area had been charged with firearm offences stemming from the same incident, and will appear in Casino Court on January 17.
