MP in near-miss on Pacific Highway

NORTH Coast MP Steve Cansdell has had a narrow escape from a head-on accident on the Pacific Highway.

Mr Cansdell, the Member for Clarence, was driving toward Maclean on Saturday when a car heading south failed to take a bend and travelled across his lane, narrowly missing the MP's car.

"The driver of the car went straight through the fence and into the trees, flipping his car on to its side," Mr Cansdell said. Mr Cansdell was uninjured.

A 30-year-old Gold Coast man was taken to hospital suffering abdominal and back pain after the crash. His three children aged 10, nine and four were treated for minor injuries.
