Melbourne Cup king Bart at Ballina

WHEN legendary trainer Bart Cummings, pictured, comes to town, people listen.

Well, that's why there will be a bumper crowd at the Ballina Jockey Club this evening for the annual Calcutta for the $40,000 Carlton Ballina Cup tomorrow.

Cummings is a special guest of the Jockey Club and will be attending the Calcutta tonight and the Cup day.

The trainer of 11 Melbourne Cup winners will be interviewed by well-known racing identity Alan Thomas just before the Calcutta.

Race caller Damien Seaton will then hold a phantom call.

Jockey Club secretary-manager Steve Taylor has promised plenty of entertainment aimed at all ages for the Cup tomorrow.

A roving band will play and there will be plenty of raffles and prizes to be won. And, of course, there's fashions in the field.
